Hipster Crucifix. True story, bro:
(NEWSER) – A Catholic church in Britain has given Jesus a 21st century makeover, the Daily Telegraph reports. Uckfield Catholic Church’s “Jesus in Jeans” sculpture, to be hoisted to the top of its bell tower this week, depicts a rockin’ Jesus with a trim haircut and sporting baggy jeans. The design was the overwhelming favorite in a parish vote to choose a statue to mark the church’s 50-year anniversary.
“The sculpture is simple and direct and I hope it sums up the feeling that Christ is always with us and that we are not to be afraid,” said sculptor Mark Cornish. “The clothing is loosely contemporary in order to connect Christ to his people now as much as to his past.”

Hipster Jesus Week continues. Another rendition of Hipster Jesus, this one from Icon Church in San Diego. It’s rather odd to see the Budweiser logo aglow in place of Jesus’ heart. And the use of Christian symbols as fashion is a topic for another day.

Hipster Jesus Week continues. Here’s a thoughtful article in the Wall Street Journal by the author of “Hipster Christianity.” My thoughts later in the week.

Hipster Jesus says, “I was born in Bethlehem. You probably haven’t heard of it before.”
